Guy, I'm having few problems with my laptop keyboard and touchpad.

Kb: "a" button is unresponsive. I need to tap it really extra hard to activate it. It is distracting as hell. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Touchpad: Scrollpad does not scroll. Nothing happens when I move my finger up or down.

Please let me know what I should do about these annoyances. Thanks.

My first thing would be to blow off the drivers and let them redetect themselves, see what happens, if that has no effect i would check all the cables associated with those two devices and reseat them as well. If that doesnt work then you might be looking at one or both defective devices.

Annihilate/Reinstall drivers, try and carefully remove and replace the a key, then check your warranty terms.

Does the "A" key feel different than the other keys? Carefully pop the key off and put it back in - it might be just maladjusted.

For the mouse, make sure the right drivers are installed, not the generic windows drivers. Go to your mouse properties, there should be an option to enable/disable the scrolling.

usually you pry up gently on one side. Most laptop keys use a scissors type clip. See if you can tell by the feel whether the scissors go horizontal or vertical. For example, it may rock back and forth vertically easier than side to side. In that case you try and pry from the top or the bottom, but don't force it, it only clips on. To reattach, get the key aligned properly and press it straight down until it clicks in place. Might take a little bit of force but don't push too hard. I suggest doing this with the laptop off so you don't put a whole bunch of A's on the screen :p

I have cleaned the contacts (both ends) on the little cables that connect the kbd/tp modules to the mobo and that sometimes makes the kbd/tp work better and never hurts. I use Caig Labs cleaner and contact enhancer for those purposes (called Deoxit and Deoxit or Pro Gold) - caig.com .
