I have installed the latest 451a driver today for my Chaintech AV710 sound card in an XP environment. Previously I was using Audigy 2 and all of its driver is completely removed.

I have a 5.1 setup for the sound card, I installed the driver, loaded up the application and selected the 5.1 setup. I did the speaker test and sound came out correctly. However when I am using WinAMP or Windows Media Player, sounds are only coming from the front channels.

Did I do anything wrong? Pls. advise!

Go back to a lower version driver. I had all kinds of problems under XP until I used an earlier driver from VIA.

edit: Here's the link for the best drivers I've found.

Unless you are using DVD-audio Music is only 2 channel. Why would you expect to get sound out of all the speakers?

Hey thanks for your help, tried the 1.43d driver! The same problem is still here, sounds only from the center, and front speakers + subwoofer. The rear speakers are not playing anything.

I am just listening to regular MP3s but with my Audigy 2, sounds came out properly from my 5.1 setup.

Any idea?

[Oh wait, I tried using Windows Media Player 10, sounds are now coming out from my rear speakers!! SO I think it's WinAMP.]

Thanks!

Sound shouldn't come out all the speakers unless you are using a decoding matrix or CMMS 3d

Oh you mentioned CMMS 3D, I think that's with my Audigy soundcard!

I was trying Half Life 2 on my 5.1 setup, it works perfectly. Just the MP3 playing in Windows that's weird, unless I use WM 10. What do you suggest, Rleemhui?

Thanks!

unless there is a option to convert the stereo source to a "dual stereo" or "party mode" or pro logic of some sort, you will just have to listen to music in stereo. This is the way the format originally is so there is nothing wrong with your card. It just might not have all the options of the audigy

Yeah I am having the same problem.

I have Logitech Z560 4.1 Speakers - this has 2 front, 2 rear, and a subwoofer.

I only hear sound from my 2 front and sub when playing music.

The funny thing is that in the VIA Audio Deck program (that came with the driver), I installed this I ran the sound tests and it plays sound on my front and rear speakers!

I neeed help.

thanks

IceT, did you ever figure out the problem? I think I'm gonna buy a Creative card lol.

Music is stereo. Playing on the front 2 speakers and the sub is normal operation. If you want it to play on the other speakers, you need to have either a set of speakers with a mode to play a stereo signal on all the speakers (M3D for you, genius99) or a mode on your soundcard to play the signal on all the speakers.

I'm running my AV-710 in digital mode, so I've never tried the analog stuff, but try the "Stereo EXpander" checkbox. It might do what you're for.

Thanks YOyoYOhowsDAjello, it worked! :)

I selected 'Stereo EXpander'.
