Problem w/ 35mm SLR film not advancing, not taking pics

Hi guys, I have a Minolta HTSIplus AF slr, and i dont think the film is advancing when it is inserted. It doesn't take pictures (open teh shutter) when film is inside the camera. But when I open the back door or don't have film in it it will take pictures. Does any1 have any idea what i can do or how to fix it? thanks.

Send it to a camera shop and kiss at least $200 goodbye. That's how you fix it. Unless you're inserting the film wrong...

EDIT: Heck with that. It's got a built in motor drive. Bye-bye money.

Try taking more pictures with another roll of film. Check to see if the camera has focus/shutter lock that were on when you had the film in the body. Check the battery, read the manual, and take it to a pro camera shop and ask them how to use your camera.

Give me the camera if all fails 😉

That doesn't jive with his symptoms. What it seems like, given that the camera has automatic film loading (kind of a silly feature, it's not like manual loading is hard) is that somehow the automatic loading isn't working and the camera is sensing that it's loaded improperly.
