I am attempting to replace (just) my motherboard (ASUS PB3F) with a
new MSI k7TPro2A. I am using WIN2K SP1, and K7T BIOS 1.9

I cannot get WIN2K to boot after installing the new MB. It gets to the
graphical "Starting Windows 2000" screen, and then gives me a blue
screen with the following error :

"0x0000007B Inaccessible Boot Device"

I can boot to floppy using DOS, and Also boot my originial Win2K CD.
Once I boot DOS or WIN2K CD, I can access the C: boot drive OK. So
there is no problem with the MB recognizing the drive and all.

I tried going into the K7T BIOS and methodically changing Disk related
settings 1 by 1 and rebooting. Still no luck.

It seems as if my WIN2K install, is having some problem when it tries
to boot my hard disk.

Took the K7T out and popped the Asus back in and booted normally. I
have replaced motherboards many times WITHOUT having to do a clean
install. I really would prefer not to have to do that, especially
considering other comments here about problems installing WIN2K on a
K7T Pro2A. (Guess I could always go "back" to WIN-ME.)

I see their is a new BIOS v2.0 for the K7T and someone mentioned VIA
drivers. Any comments before I tear this baby down again, and
reinstall the MSI K7T? Thanks.......

Seems many of the VIA chipsets have this problem. I've build (2) systems off of that MSI K7T Pro2-A, both clean installations, but a friend of mine upgarded from an Abit BE6 (P3-450) to an Abit VP6 with dual 700E P3s. He had the same problem as you are experiencing. I was there for the hours he tried to get it running, I feel your pain! Basically, I believe you are indeed forced with a reformat/install. Damn those VIA boards too hell ;) I'm getting my Abit KT7-RAID on Monday, and I won't even be using the same Windows installation I still have on my HDD from my older motherboard (MSI K7T Pro2-A) for the SAME processor (1.1GHz Thunderbird) simple reason is because Windows is weird with drivers; I never keep the same Windows installation for anything major (such as mobo or cpu) any other hardware and you're usually alright.

Try to boot from CDROM with W2K CD and choose REPAIR option. It's gonna be O.K.
