problem trying to rip a CD into an mp3

Ok. I just bought cd and I want to rip it onto my computer. It doesnt matter what program I use, I cant select mp3 as the output type. ITs not even in the options menu. I even tried a cd i bought years ago and still nothing. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

i even ripped it to wma and tried to conver that to mp3 and I cant... Ive ripped hundreds of cds in the past years and never had a problem until now.
