Problem to wear only one ear bud

So is it bad for your hearing? Certainly feels weird. I like to have music while I workout but recently I have a partner and I def can't hear him with both of em on.

 
If you have the music loud, and only in one ear, you could have hearing damage in just that ear, but I don't see why wearing only one earbud would cause anymore damage than two.
