Problem: TDK 24x drive disappears in WinXP whenever I set it to DMA

I installed a TDK 24x CDRW in my PC last night, and I have not been able to get it to run in UDMA mode. If I set it to UDMA33, the drive will disappear from Windows XP except in the Via IDETool, there I can still see it. I ended up resintalling Window without any luck. Anyone have any ideas? I'm pretty sure this is a rebadged LiteOn 24x drive, but not positive. Anyone have any ideas. I have installed the latest 4-in-1 drivers, no change, The highest I can set it using IDETool is Multiword DMA mode 2. The drive is set up as my secondary master. There is also a 10x DVD drive set up as a slave on the Secondary connection, but I disconnected it to see if it was causing problems and that didn't help.

What's this IDETool you're talking about? Can't you just set the drive to DMA mode in Windows Device Manager?

Edit:

I just checked my 12x10x32 TDK in the Device Manager and it showed up as Multi-Word DMA Mode 2. Maybe that's the highest it will go.

The 12x probably doesn't support UDMA33, I don't know for sure, but according to the manual and what I've read online the 24x TDK does support UDMA33. I have done a little reasearch though, and apparently as far as I'm concerned, multiword dma will do the exact same thing for me. I'll have to check it out when I geth ome and see if that's the case.
