Problem starting Word for non-privileged user?

Ok, so I'm setting up a W2K box so my kids can run some educational games & such. Did all the updates/antivirus/malware stuff l(thanks Shadenfroh). I put Office 2000 on as well, and ran the updates on it. Office starts fine for administrator.

So I created an unpriveleged account for the kids, so they can't break it as easily. Now, if I try to open an office program (Word, Excel, etc.) I get a dialog popping up:

Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional
Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional
Gathering riquired information
<progress bar> <cancel button>

Then another opens on top of it:

Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. The Windows
installer cannot continue..
<OK button>

I click OK and the same set of dialogs pops up again. Click OK again, and the application finally comes up. But the sequence repeats again next time you open an office app. In fact, opening another office app while the previous is still running also kicks you into this sequence.

Any idea what is going on here??

editorial comment: Windows is a complete PITA to install & configure compared to Linux. No network out of the box until I found the driver disk for the nic ... which I ussually toss. No 3ware support out of the box. Graphics was horrid until I could get the network up and dl nvidia drivers (I had tossed that disk apparently). Hours of downloading & rebooting to get all the updates on, followed by installign all kinds of anti-virus/spyware/malware crap that you never deal with on Linux. I swear, this poor machine was rebooted more often this weekend then it has been in the past 3 or 4 years running Linux.

hold down the shift button
right click on word
click run-as
put in an admin account credentials, then it should run.

Set the account to be more privileged (ie Administrator), open up Word etc, let it install (you must have originally done a minimal/"run from CD" install), then change the account priviliges back to how they were.

Ok, thanks. That worked. FWIW, I did a custom install of office just to make sure some stuff would not be "install on 1st run" or such. Like the Excel Analysis Pak. It looks like the problem was actually in the Office service pack (SR-1).
In any case, it's working now. Thanks again.
