Help... Pleeeeze help!

I'm trying to install Windows Millenium on my new system, but once the installation procedure has checked all the harddrives and it about to start up I get the following error: Standart Mode: Fault outside of MS-DOS Extender

Athlon XP 1.6Ghz (1900+)
Epox 8KHA+ mainboard with the latest bios
1024mb ddr-ram
60gb IBM 60GXP harddisk which has new formattet partitions.

I'm itching to get this bad boy running, but I've got no idea what to do, so as to avoid getting the above error.

... please help.

Try using only 512MB ram and make sure you have a good boot Floppy

I'm having the same issue. Only in my case it's Windows '98. I've got an MSI KT266A motherboard with 512MB Corsair DDR ram. I read an article at Microsoft's sight but I couldn't really understand what it was talking about. It said something about your config.sys file in the bootup disk. Link here.

The config.sys file on my bootdisk looks like this:

<< [menu]
menuitem=CD, Start computer with CD-ROM support.
menuitem=NOCD, Start computer without CD-ROM support.
menuitem=HELP, View the Help file.
menudefault=CD,30
menucolor=7,0

[CD]
device=himem.sys /testmem:eek:ff
device=oakcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
device=btdosm.sys
device=flashpt.sys
device=btcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
device=aspi2dos.sys
device=aspi8dos.sys
device=aspi4dos.sys
device=aspi8u2.sys
device=aspicd.sys /D:mscd001

[NOCD]
device=himem.sys /testmem:eek:ff

[HELP]
device=himem.sys /testmem:eek:ff

[COMMON]
files=10
buffers=10
dos=high,umb
stacks=9,256
devicehigh=ramdrive.sys /E 2048
lastdrive=z
>>

Anyone have a clue as to what I should do? Thanks.

Just figured it out. Turns out my RAID array was currupt. I had a mirrored array on the motherboards built in promise controller. I rebuilt the array and everything was fine after that. Weird.
