You have provided zero information on your system 🙁 More info, please... is it one you built yourself, or a store-bought one like an EMachine? If you built it, let's have as much info as possible about the brand and model of the parts, including the power supply unit.

Also, be really descriptive of the symptoms. When you press the power button, what happens? Absolutely nothing at all, no fans turn and no noise? Or does it run fans but fail to put anything on the screen? The power strip's on/off button didn't get bumped to Off, perhaps...?

sorry for lack of info on my part. Here go, My PC was built by me over the years, lots of upgrade like brand new Mother Board 2 years ago, upgraded the processor from amd duron to amd t-bird 1.2 ghz because I am not a gamer person, upgraded the video card from ati to Nvidia w/tv out, 2 HDs 1 is 60g WD and the other is 27G fujitsu. Other stuff I have in my PC is firewire card, old usb ports, 5.1 sound card and d-link network card.

Like I said, it powered up yesterday and this morning. When I pressed the power button, there no sign of power because the fan nor the lights lit-up. I check all cable and everything seems to be intact.

Please help thanx.

if you have another power supply to swap in there that would be a good place to start. if not, maybe you can borrow one.

Try borrowing a PSU or failing that buy a new one and give it a shot, most of the time when a system won't power up and it's been working fine for years, the PSU has failed. Gluck and hope this helps..... 🙂

guys, my instinct tell me the same thing. I think my PSU have gave in after 2 years of usage. But before I replace it, I will test the current that is going through it with a volt meter. It might be the front switch that turns on/off the pc could have loose wiring too. Let me do some check list and get back with some diagnostic breakdown. I know replacing the the PSU will not cost alot but this problem will give me an opportunity to learn and understand more of the PC hardware side.

As expected, the PSU gave in so had to replace it. New PSU cost $20, install free, having Anandtech members diagnost..priceless. thanx guys.
