PROBLEM SOLVED: Dell cancelled my order!!!

What's up with that? They didn't even tell me why or send me an e-mail...just cancelled it.

I HATE EVERYTHING!

Edit: My credit card didn't clear, because I had different shipping and billing addresses (there's ol' Wells Fargo looking out for me. I re-placed the order using a different [debit] card, and it cleared and will be shipped, three days later than it should have.

To all of you who got on my back for "ripping off" corporate america, I have a suggestion to you: Go outside, find a girl (or guy, whatever floats your boat) and kiss him/her. It'll make you feel better. Trust me on this one

I don't understand why people freak out when they try to buy something for under cost and then freak out.

If Dell let people make deals where they lost money, THEY WOULDN'T BE IN BUSINESS TO GIVE OUT MORE DEALS:|

I have no sympathy for people who try to rip a company off by quadriple stack coupons and on top of that find ways to get double mail in rebates to work, etc etc etc then come crying when the company caught them in their act.

I ordered an Inspiron 4600 (800 FSB P4 2.4).

Pretty much stripped, but with an 18" LCD and an All-in-Wonder 9000.

I didn't do ANYTHING out of the ordinary. There was a built-in Dell promo for a discount on the LCD (and I think some other promo giving you a 80 gig hard drive for the price of 40). So that's just the built in stuff, right? Oh, and free shipping.

The extent of my deal engineering? A 10% off coupon that they EMAILED ME!

So, where exactly, am I ripping them off?

The total was $931 including CA tax.

Seems reasonable to me.

No other coupons, no other promotions.

I don't get it.

You know you were getting an outrageous deal.... don't try to play it off like you weren't. Maybe somewhere on the coupon, it said cannot combine with other offers?

Dude, you're on crack.

That's a good deal. It's not outrageous.

They send those coupons to people, for 10% off the entire order. The do that full well knowing that that is in addition to any other promos they have going (discounts on the LCDs or whatever).

As for previous orders...I think they sent me the coupon simply because I had done previous business with them [successfully].

I mean, if that LCD is worth $430 (and thousands upon thousands of people have got it for that) that means that the system is worth $500, which sounds about right.

Again, it's a good deal, nothing more.

Edit:For the morons out there: "One coupon per customer. One time use only. May be combined with current web site promotions but cannot be combined with other order
level coupons. "

Seems like it should work to me.

Yeah it is...the Inspiron is a laptop....for 499. Thats why they cancelled it.

I dont think he meant inspiron because I doubt if those come with AIW 9000s. He probably meant Dimension.

Sorry. I'm writing this on an Inspiron.

I meant Dimension.

I really can't wait until tomorrow to figure out why they cancelled the order. I think most people would agree it's not that crazy of a deal.

Remember that one guy who got his order canceled by dell beacuase he had like "guns" or "firearms" in his business name...in the end after the whole fiasco they offered him a free computer 🙂....

Call tomorrow and demand an explanation, escalate it to a supervisor is necessary.

Yeah, I'm going to do this. It's really gonna screw me, since I've sorta sold my current desktop and need something to replace it.

If it's any consolation, they've been cancelling orders for several of my clients, too. Full price, high-end stuff.

They're understaffed and overwhelmed. Things get lost really easily.
