--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Built me a new computer of new components. Just used the following items for starting up:

- Thermaltake firepower 480W

- ASUS P4C800E de luxe socket 478

- chipset Intel 875P MCH

- DDR memory Corsair TWINX1024 MB - 3200LL CAS 2,0 (2-3-2-6) advised by ASUS (two pieces of 512 MB matched pairs)

- P4 3,0E

- 2x Western Digital Raptors 74,0 Gb S-ATA (not installed in RAID)

- Videocard Nvidea 6800 GT 256 MB DDR3

First made some settings in BIOS:

- memory settings 2-3-2-6

- changed AGP aperture size in 128MB

- switched off promise controller because don't use it for installing S-ATA drives

- switched off powermanagement

Then started installing XP Pro (OEM version) and I the following happened:

XP gave a few times the message that it couldn't copy some things but gave a retry-option which I used. XP proceeded installing
failure setupdd.sys" "page_fault_in_nonpaged_area" I checked at microsoft and I found a message that it could be a defect RAM or RAM is not compatible with XP (knowledge base 315335). Problem is that I cannot check my RAM with software. My other computer is very old so it won't fit. Is my BIOS ready for this fast RAM? My RAM is advised by the motherboard manufacturer!
Strange is that gave it a second try and then it gave another failure ASC3550.sys" "the driver unloaded without cancelling pending operations" Haven't found anything about this failure.
I gave it a third try and theb it gave "CDFS.sys" "page_fault_in_nonpaged_area"
I gave it another try and the last error appeared again.

So, conclusion is that everytime another failure appeared with .sys and I don't know what to do. I bought some fine stuff but can't use it.

My kingdom for the solution.

Thanks already.

Greetings,

1) crank memory voltage to 2.8 volts

2) relax timings slightly to 2.5-3-3-7

Give that a whirl. :)

It is always best to install the os with the memory timings set by SPD. After the os is installed, then work on tightening the timings.

You can run memtest to make sure that your RAM is stable and you can do it without an OS. You just need to create the floppy on another machine with OS.
If you don't have a floppy drive, you may be able to create a bootable CD for it.
