Problem Sending Private Messsage - Why?

I am using IE 5.0 and for some reason I get "Object Expected" error message, Code error 0 when attempting to send a Private Message. Why is this and how can I correct it?
Other problems I am having: I cannot access Windows Update the page or rather when I try to check for updates and an attempt is made to scan nothing happens. I went to do a repair within Control Panel but IE is not listed. Yet can still use it to access other websites such as this one. Pages are displayed with another error message besides the one noted above (e.g. "Home menu not defined&quot😉.
 
Absolutely no idea, ask in general hardware or operating systems, as I said it has nothing to do with the forums, or the web for that matter 🙂 It is something much deeper than that. We cannot solve those issues here only problems with the forums themselves.
