Ok, I installed win2k on my parents' computer, which is a Gateway PII 400 with an STB Velocity 4400(TNT classic). I installed the latest detonators from NVIDIA and SP1. My brother has tried playing two of his games, Serious Sam and Clive Barkers Undying, but right before they are about to boot up they display the following error messages.

1. 3d hardware initialization failed

2. (Specific to Undying, but similar to Serious Sam):

The instruction at "0x101448b8" referenced memory at "0x00000a6c". The memory could not be "read".

I don't know where to go from here. I got errors with the default NVIDIA drivers that win2k installed as well. I installed Baldur's Gate and it worked fine. DirectX 8.0 was installed as well. Does anyone know where I can go with this? I desperately need help because everyone in my house thinks that I messed up this computer.

not exactly sure.. but i would say for you to install SP2.. and then see if that fixes your problems.. it is supposed to have alot of updates and fixes, for many things.

Installing SP2 is out of the question since the connection is 28.8 I don't think SP2 has any fixes for video problems. This is a regular agp video card, it isn't integrated so I don't see what would go wrong with the detonators or directx 8.0.

win2k did NOT have an openGL ICD for a TNT (mine is a diamond viper V550), so i had to use the nvidai reference drivers...

hope this helps :)
