Problem restarting.

I just noticed this today while I was upgrading my video drivers from the diamond multimedia drivers to the detonator drivers. A couple of times while changing stuff I was prompted to Restart the pc. When I clicked OK or Yes it seemed to shutdown OK but just stayed at the black creen with a cursor blinking in the top right corner. I could tell it wasn't going to restart so I just pressed th ereset button on the case. Then it goes through the scandisk screen.
Not sure why this all of a sudden started doing this but when I am in windows and choose Start/Shutdown/Restart everything is fine.
Anyone know what could be happening?

That happened to me on occasion when I put in my GF2 GTS and used the detonators, exactly like you described. Not sure what it was, or how it went away either. I'm pretty sure it wasn't something I changed in Windows that caused it to go away, maybe it was some options in the bios, I remember playing around with some of the power management settings. I hope someone comes along with a definite answer for if this ever happens again.

Anybody else?
Also when you click on Restart while holding the shift key down, it just goes to the blank screen. Then when you manually hit the reset button on the case it has to go through scnadisk. Doesn't that actually mean that it did not shutdown proerly rather than shutdown OK but not boot back up OK?
Help me.

It's probably trying to replace a file that's in use. Switch to a VGA driver first and reboot, before changing to the new one.

As mentioned, some versions of the DET drivers have shutdown problems. Try a different version.

Make sure you rename or delete two un-needed files: drvwppt.vxd and drvw117.vxd which can cause a lock up during boot with geforce cards. Usually this is associated with a line of thin green bars across the top of you screen though. Still a good idea to zap em if you didn't already.
