When the computer turns on it displays the gigabyte motherboard screen .with a yellow tint though,
Then you hear the windows theme music with this picture

And with the onboard intel graphics everything is fine so it's not the monitor.

did you try putting cable into diff dvi slot or something like that? Otherwise it seems bad, like memory is fried or something

I just got it on ebay, it does seem bad. and I just have an hdtv and there are no other hook ups for hdtv..So if it's just the hook up I still want a refund. no mention of hook ups not working. And it was packaged in a plastic bag and pop corn..Great for static!!!

If I don't get a refund looks like my card days are over.Don't have the money!!!
Nothing to sell to help get another one..I did look at refunds before i bought and it said it was backed by or guaranteed by ebay..So I hope they back it up..But I'm not going the ebay route anymore

Can you try the card in another computer? Do you have other cables you can use, such as DVI to HDMI, or the DVI to VGA adapter?

Ive had a 100% positive for years now and I can't shoot any more straight forward, I doubt it would effect it much..99.7% positive would be a worse case scenario.

So perhaps it is the connections . But!!! everything is connected as it should. does that make sense.. ok I'll switch the 8 pin to the other string of the molex with just 2 molex on it.

Ok,Now I just went in and deleted all the drivers. Then all it had was a yellowish tint and no more green static like in the pic..BUT, windows was visible with yellow tint. tried to update the drivers using scan for the drivers...it said it successfully installed the drivers and it restarted..

Solid red screen no audio..

All I have for this card is hdmi , I'm wondering if it's driver issues. I can't instal catalyst because the next and cancel buttons are not visible in 640 resolution. I have to manually locate the drivers from the device manager..But if you select driver for "r9 2xx series windows 7 64bit" then it seems it should work.. right?
then perhaps after restart install the rest of catalyst software later when you can see all of it and are able to press the next and continue buttons..I would think..
Huhhh,,,I may carry it somewhere and have them test it,Wow!

You sure you connected it properly?

Gpu to Gpu, no white smoke of the cpu to gpu thank goodness.. Which I checked the female and male ends before sticking them in..

The rest are molex male ends to molex female ends, 8 pin male to 8 pin female. 6 pin pci-e male to 6 pin pci-e female.

 wooo.. and they are pressed in nice and tight..I think I'm sure because if I'm wrong I sure don't want to be right, Anything else that you can think of that should be inspected? Thanks

Can you provide photos of the molex connectors you're hooking into the card? Are there any cobbling going on? If this checks out get a refund and we will help you find the right card with the budget you provide. In general, if there is uncertainty involved I recommend new as this has more potential to narrow down headaches.

My hdmi cable is fine and the other pc's dont have pci-e and i carried it to a guy in town and he said it points to being a bad gpu without charging me money for really getting into it..

Next time I get a computer part in the mail that is in a plastic bag and surrounded in Styrofoam popcorn that makes my arm hairs stand up I'm sending it right back and not even taking it out of the box..Static is death!!! I was scared about putting in my pc for frying it to begin with. And I could care less if nobody wants to sell me anything on ebay anymore because I work hard for my money and I expect things to work just like anyone else...

This is the first problem that I ever had as a buyer on ebay in 15 years..I'm just sending it back My patience is exhausted .
:thumbsup:Thanks for all the help.

That sucks

Did the guy at the PC shop even try it or did he just hear your story and concluded as much?

Did you try your old card in the same PCIe slot? How many graphic card slots does your motherboard have anyway?

It's absolutely not drivers. It's a dud card. A used GCN card from an unknown source? Likely a card used to mine with and the potential for issues are much higher. Most people who mass-mine only hook up 25-33% of gpus to a monitor. Others just use risers or the board and blast them with compute.

yep , I have an old card in the same slot it's just fine..The other slot,my case is so tight can't use a big video card in it..I had to slot it out the hard drive rack just to get the 280x in the upper pci-e slot..A pretty job of it I might add

He looked at it and said everything is hooked up right and said by looking at it he would say it points to more of a gpu issue than a driver issue. But he didn't have another machine to check it out on..But my machine is just fine, obviously .....

It's packed back up ready to mail back...I noticed like a discolored like rust that dried up kind of brown ring where it sticks in the pci-e slot...It's very faint,Could be nothing But still what in the world is that?..
But just weird signs and flags for a card that was supposedly a main card that worked just fine. I know better now..And he sure was selling a lot of fans at his e bay site...So who knows...

I might get a r9 290 with the blower fan for 220.00 on Craigslist when i get my money back..he said its hardly used... I'll arrange it where I can actually see it work before I buy it

I had similar type of things happening with an ASUS R9 280X TOP a bit with dual monitors, but have a 47" 1080P and a Dell 2560 X 1080P widescreen hooked up, I went DVI-D dual link and it fixed most my problems to the Dell, the 47 inch never had probs on the HDMI.

Not sure what monitor you have running there, but in my experience the DVI-D cable cleared it up.

I think I may have been getitng that trying to run HDMI through it at the time, or something similar to both.

My Dell came with a nice DVI-D dual link Cable, it might be worth trying one out.

Depends on the monitor type a bit I imagine.
