Hi all-
I wanted to watch some video's I had stored in .avi format today, so I loaded up WinAMP (5 something I believe) and I was greated by a slew of colors that turned out to be WinAMP's visualizations. I then installed a Codec Pack and tried again. This time, I got treated to a wonderful green window that then shifted to a normal image and finally just decided to screw up royally. I dont know how to describe it, so I can provide a screenshot in a minute. Little boxes show up with old parts of the movie over top of the current frame if that makes any sense. There is "ghosting" when it shifts scenes etc. So all in all very unwatchable.
I tried to play the videos in WinAMP, Windows Media Player, and WinDVD, and they all did the same thing to varying degrees. I installed an older version of Nemo's Codec Pack (I can find the version number if you guys need it). I also thought that it could be the files themselves, so I dug around my hard drives and found some older DVD rips I had made (my sister has a habit of destroying them, you guys would get a kick out of some of the stories) in .avi format, and those also didn't work.
Any thoughts guys and gals?
Just for referance my system is:
Windows XP Pro w/ SP2
Athlon 64 3000+ @ stock cooled by an XP-90 w/ 45 CFM fan
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
512MB PC-3200 RAM
Built By ATI Radeon 9600XT w/ 128MB RAM
Various Hard and optical drives
Ultra X-Connect PSU (a short editorial if I may, NEVER BUY THIS PSU, wire managment is actually hindered by the dang cables)
Thanks in advance,
E
(I also didn't know exactly where this should go, so move it if it needs to go somewhere else)
