Problem playing audio CD's.

I put together a new system a couple of weeks ago and I'm having a small problem which I can't seem to fix.

I have W98se installed on the system which also has a plextor 12/10/32cdrw scsi and a plextor cdrom(40tsi)installed. I can't get the default windows cd player to play audio out of either one. I know there must be a simple answer to this, I just can't find it.

PlextorManagor will play and Windows Media player will also play the audio cd's, but the default player and Winamp will not play. No sound! Has anybody got an answer for this? It's really weird to me that Windows Media Player will play the cd's but not the default player.
