problem overclocking p5n and e2160

I have a problem overclocking my p5n-e sli and e2160. for some reason my multiplier won't stay where I put it. when I restart after changing it, it reverts back to stock 9. has anyone else seen this. also it does not give me the option that it shows in the manual of unlocking the multiplier, I am assuming this is not there since the chip doesn't come pre-locked.
