Problem overclocking 800 Thunderbird

I have an Abit K7T which I am able to overclock with the following problem.
I can set the clock multiplier to 8 or 9, and it works fine.
If I try 8.5 or 9.5, the computer boots up showing the multiplier as 8 and 9 respectively.
Does anyone know why I can't set the multiplier to 8.5 and 9.5?
Is it because I unlocked the L1 connections improperly?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
