Problem opening ANY .exe file...

I am trying to dl another mp3 to wav converter, and they are coming in *.exe files, when i try to open them it gives me a message stating that *.exe is NOT a valid win32 application.

Why?

and BTW, the *.exe files are "applications" under type of file.

This problem is occuring with anything i download.

Another issue i just noticed is that when i d/l zip files, nothing is in them, although the file is 1.3mb...??????

Have you installed anything recently you may not have? You could have a virus. If you are overclocking, don't. Maybe your Windows installation is corrupted, maybe your hardware is going out on you. All things to consider/try.
