Problem of QuickTime movie (.mov) to Real Media (.rm)

It seems Real Producer Basic can only convert the QuickTime 4 and below.
Here is I copy from Real Producer Basic help:

Only the following audio and video formats can be converted into RealMedia clips using the RealProducer Basic:

Audio (.au)
Waveform audio (.wav)
Video for Windows (.avi). For file size limitations on recording from AVI files, see "AVI Files".
QuickTime 2.0, uncompressed 3.0, and uncompressed 4.0 (.mov); requires DirectX 6.0

I use QuickTime Pro which saves the .mov in QuickTime 5. So, Real Producer
Basic can't convert the QuickTime 5 movies into Real media .rm files, right?

Does any Guru believe the problem is due to this reason?

I checked the website of Real Producer Plus and couldn't find out whether
or not Real Producer Plus support QuickTime 5 movie.

So, I wonder any guru here has some suggestion for my question or recommend some other software to convert the QuickTime 5 movie into
Real Media .rm movie.

Thanks.

***Here is the question I posted last time:***

last time, I converted a 36MB QuickTime movie (.mov) to a Real Media
(.rm) format with only 5MB by Real Producer Basic. But my boss
wanted a smaller size of the movie. So, yesterday, I used
QuickTime Pro to split the 36MB movie into 5 pieces, and each is
about 7MB. But when I tried to use Real Producer Basic to convert
the new 7MB .mov to .rm, I got an error message:
"The source you have selected contains an unsupported audio or
video format. The require audio or video filter could not be located."

So, do I really need to purchase the Real Producer Plus for this
purpose? Or, is there any other way to solve this problem?

Thanks.

They are all closed formats.

I though that QT4 was also a closed format. oh well

in other words, QTPro editor will only read and save as QT, same with RMProducer.

If it's an open format like AVI or MPEG you can then use an video editor and save it as QT or RM or whatever but once saved in these formats you can re-open them it's a one way ticket, the same goes for anything after MPEGv4 for ASF and WMV.

>do I really need to purchase the Real Producer Plus for this purpose?

I'm not sure, I've never used RP but I'm %90 sure you can't open a QT 4 or 5 and then save it as RM. There are always ways but not one for the common user.

Edit: I just looked at the RP manual it does say that it can convert QT but doens't say what versions.
