Problem: MSI K7T Pro2-A or my Vantec Socket A Heatsink?

Here is the problem:

I have the above mentioned motherboard and heatsink. I had been running the Vantec fine for about 2 weeks, until I noticed that the FAN was not spinning anymore (NOTE: this was connected to the CPU FAN Connection on the motherboard). So I hooked up another fan to the connector and still no power going to it. So I was pretty sure it was the CPU FAN Connection that just went dead. So I proceed to connect my Vantec fan to the other onboard power connection left (which is the CHASSIS FAN connection). This too ran good for about 2 weeks, then just recently died on me, same diagnosis as the first connector. Both connectors are dead. I am sending back the motherboard to replace it with a working one. My question is, has anyone ever experienced this and/or can the Vantec fan be the culprit and is responsible for frying the connectors or is it just a bad motherboard? Having both die made me think that the heatsink/fan my be part of the problem.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

some fans can draw too much power from those mobo fan headers and cause them to burn out. Never heard of a vantec fan doing that though
