So I went out and bought a well reviewed ASUS Router (WL-520GU) with the hopes of using it with my Epson printer to have a nice wireless setup in my house. However, even though the printer is detected and enabled when I log into the router, it won't show up when I search through Vista over the network for it.... Any ideas?

Have you tried to add it with the IP: When Vista doesn't find it, say that it's not listed then use the TCP/IP option to add the printer.

Many of the 3rd party Printer servers do not work well or do not work at all.

Printers are usually based on propriety design and there is No way that 3rd part printer server builder can make a device that would work with more than "some" printers and would supporting much more then just straight simple printing.

The only countable solution is to use a Real Network Printer ( http://www.ezlan.net/prtserver.html ).

Did you check that the printer and the computers are in the same Work Group & the printer has the Router SSID and Password
in it ? ?

I tried putting in the direct IP on all the computers and it's just not showing up at all.

Is the Printer Wired to the router or WIreless to the router ? ? If it is Wireless, you need to add the MAC Address of the Printer to the Router wireless configuration. You then need to Add the Home Network Name or SSID to the Printer Configuration and also input the Password for your wireless network into the Printer Configuration. And as I mentioned above, the Printer and all the Computers that want to use it need to be in the Same Work Group (Network Name / SSID). You also need to check your Firewall settings as they may have some effect on the results. Can you get to the printer thru other computers that are NOT using Vista ? ? ? ? If you can then it is a problem Vista specific. If not, look at the first set of suggestions.

Are you using the Asus printer software or are you printing to it through LPR? You might want to try setting up the printer using LPR. I think the queue name is LPRServer.

The other thing you might want to consider is putting DD-WRT on it and printing to it via RAW. This does take considerably more work but I found the Asus firmware to be very unreliable.
