Problem: Loss of volume in movies

Hi

I've been having this annoying problem for over 3 years, with 3 different computers and with 2 different sets of speakers and headsets.
First, the volume keeps dropping during movies' playback and when I close the movie and open it again, the volume returns to normal and then drops again gradually after about 10 minutes.
Then I get this other frustrating problem when in every single movie, the audio delays more and more until it appears almost a second after the video. And yet again, this problem disappears when I close and open the movie and return it to its previous position.

This is prolly a software problem but here's my setup if it may help:
Mobo: Abit NF7-S rev2.1
Speakers: Logitech Z-5300
I'm using Windows XP and Media Player 10. Same problem was with MP9.

I'll appreciate your help.
Thanks.

mmm.

I've never had that kind of problem before, with 3 different computers 😛. I've had a problem where the audio would slowly lag behind until there was an obvious lag between the character's speaking and the audio playing.

If you're playing .avis and stuff, I would recommend you go to www.doom9.org and download the Gordian Knot Codec Pack.

I don't really know enough to help you, sorry.

Well that didn't help... I've even tried using WinDVD to play my movies but still I have this lag.
The problem with the sound decrease is gone though... guess it was MP10's fault.

Any ideas people? Could the codecs have something to do with that? I'm using the Kazaa Lite full codec pack and now this other one that Taejin recommended of as well.
Thanks.

Have you tried PowerDVD. I had a similar problem and there is an audio setting for "noisy environment"

good luck

Sorry for the late response.
I've tried PowerDVD and I had the same problem but I'll check out this setting you mentioned.
Tnx.
