Problem loading Windows

I been having some trouble when I have to restart.

The computer will go to the WindowsXP splash screen and it seems to load like normal, but when it finishes, the monitor just goes black, and the power indicator goes from green to orange (active to idle). I can however get into safe mode just fine and there are no hardware conflicts (I don't know what else to check for).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

That would seem to indicate a driver problem. Did you just put in a new video card or other device?

I recently installed a WinTV card, but I had this problem before that. The last time this happend (last weekend I guess-before the WinTV) I was eventually able to get in, but I don't know why.

Okay, I uninstalled my second hard drive and also used the system restore to set the system back to where it had been before I installed the new card but no luck.

Any other suggestions?

There is, but it's not too hot. My watercooling setup hasn't changed at all. And even if that was the original problem, I've since opened the case and I don't think it would get to the same point of the boot process before crapping out every time.

I have had little success with system restore when a serious corruption occured. I had to reinstall clean to get rid of it competely. Hence I no longer use system restore, but rather just do regular backups instead.

Have you tryed turning the monitor off then on after the boot is done . I've seen monitors that don't what to switch scrren sizes after a while . If it works in safe mode it most likely the driver or the refresh rate .

Okay, I reloaded windows from scratch. Now though, I can't get any drivers to work with my 8500. I loaded the one's I have (can't remember what version), same problem. So I downloaded the latest ones and had the same problem.

What the heck is going on? Did my card die or something?

I've also reinstalled AGP drivers and DirectX. I've tried unstalling the old ATI drivers using the instructions on rage3d. I've uninstalled NAV. In the control panel, it now lists the display adapter as being a Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

Any more thoughts.
