Problem loading up WIndows 2000...Help!

I recently built a computer using the CUSL2-C motherboard.

I am using my hard drive from my old computer,
which is a Maxtor Diamond Plus 40 ATA 100 running windows 2000.

I am receiving an error message when I boot up the hard drive.

The message is "STOP parameter, paramter, INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" with an entire blue background.

The bios detects the hard drive, but I can't seem to load up the operating system.

I tried using the "maxblast" disk, which is an install utility that came with the hard drive, but when I load it up, the whole system freezes.

Any ideas on how this error message occurred and how to get my hard drive to work?! Maybe I need to update my BIOS? please help! Thanks in advance.

Either run the Windows 2000 repair util on the CD after you boot from the CD. Or try booting into Safe Mode and see if that will get you into your system. I saw a MS KB article on this issue, so I will post back with the resolution.

I had this problem upon changing motherboards as well. The only solution I found was to re-install win2k fresh onto a fomatted hard drive, as repaired installs were buggy to say the least.

its service pack one ethier go to sp2 or none at all and youll be fine you can use fixboot to get into windows sometimes even with sp1

putting a HD w/ a win2k install on a completely different system rarely works. you should have at least deleted all of your system's config from the HD before swapping. doing a repair may work, but I dont think it will.

You could've also used SYSPREP with the -PNP switch. If you are/were going to use SYSPREP, I would STRONGLY recommend adding the following line in the SYSPREP.INF file:

PRODUCTID = "product ID #"

That way, you don't have to re-enter the same ID again.

Got it up and running.

Just booted my computer up with win2k cd and ran a REPAIR.

Don't know exactly how it worked.

Thanks for the input everyone.
