Problem involving resolution in CS Source

I was playing CS in the 1650x1080 resolution, and it was being a bit laggy for me. So I dropped the resolution down to 1280x768 res, which was also in the 16:10 aspect ratio. Apparently, my monitor won't support that, and the game crashed.

Now, when I try to launch the game, my monitor says that there is no connection for several seconds, then goes back to the desktop, and the game doesn't launch.

Is there any way I can fix this, short of a full re-install. I am currently on dial up and those updates from steam take forever!

I don't have CS source so I don't know but sometimes games will have an INI file that has the resolution setting in it, if resolution is really your probrlem you may be able to edit the ini or game config file. Also some games have a safe mode option for the game. If that is available for you, try that and see if you can increase the resoltuion to what you had it on before.
