I recently read about the recall of the CC820 for MTH problems so of course the first thing I do is to buy one. Intel's policy is to replace the CC820 with a VC820 and 128mb of free Rambus. Good deal so that's how I got the board.

I took my current board out of my system (p3v4x) and proceded to insert my 128mb PC800 RIMM into bank0 and a CRIMM into bank 1. I mounted the board in my enlight 7237 with my Sparkle 300w PS. I connected ONLY the Power switch to the front jumpers on the vc820, figured thats all it would need immediately. I then inserted my Abit Slotket III with my socket 370 600e into the slot1 without using the universal retention mechanism. Plugged the ATX connector to the board connected the PS to the wall. The standby power led turns orange, i think this is normal. Press power button and I get absolutely no response. The CPU fan i have runs of a 4connecter of one of the free power connectors on the PS. The PS fan doesn't turn on. The standby power led stays orange. The integrated speaker on the board is silent.

I have no way to test the RIMMs but I assume they work, they are brand new. I don't have a slot1 cpu nor can I afford another cpu. Does anyone know for certain if the vc820 can't use a slotket? I know the slotket is fine cause it worked in my p3v4x. The only thing I did was clean off the thermal paste and put a new heatsink on so it could fit in my board. I doubt I killed the processor that way.

I did test another 230w atx PS i have and got the same results. I tried the power switch in backwards. I still get no response from my board. Anyone who has experience with this board please help me. I am completely out of ideas to try. Is the problem the Slotket in the vc820?

All i can really think of is if the power button wasn't plugged in right. Um do you have access to another slotket? I have heard of abits having some problems on other motherboards.
