This is on a friend's machine while trying to install the devilsown version of XP Pro.

The following error message comes up after the first automatic reboot -

Error:
Installation Failed: E:\I386\asms
Error Message: The parameter is incorrect. One of the components that windows needs could not be installed. The parameter is incorrect

The PC is a Duron 650 (unclocked), KT7 Raid mb, 40G HD with 2 partitions of 2.5G for the primary partition and the rest for the secondary. The C drive was formatted prior to install. NTFS was chosen as the file system.

Thanks a lot.

This happened to me, same error message. Found out that it was a bad burn. Does the cd work on other computers?

Thanks for the replies. This CD has not been previously used on another computer. I'll try burning another copy and try.
Thanks again
