Problem installing XP on an SATA drive

Hi, I am trying to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer. It has an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe and a Maxtor 160 GB SATA HDD.

I put the Promise SATA drivers from the ASUS website on a floppy disk using the Makedisk.exe function. I press F6 and it continues loading and then asks me to press S to install 3rd party SCSI drivers. I press S and it asks me to insert the floppy into A: drive and press Enter, which I do. It then loads the drivers, and reverts to the press S or press Enter to continue screen, but with the "Setup will load the Promise 378 drivers" or something to that effect. Now I press Enter and it continues setup. When I get to the install or repair screen I press Enter for install, but IT SAYS I HAVE NO HARD DISK DRIVE ATTACHED?

What am I doing wrong? THank you

*UPDATE*

I tried to reformat on unpartioned space using NTFS and it gives me INVALID SYSTEM DISK!!

This disk was working perfectly
