problem installing vista 64 on lenovo x61

Since Lenovo X61s doesn't have a CD drive, I am trying to install Vista 64 with an external CD/DVD drive thru USB port. The BIOS gets it booted and it brings up the start of the installation, but by the second screen, the install says it needs a driver for the DVD to continue. Where can I get this driver? Am I the only person having this problem?

Weird, if the system bios is booting from it it should be working with Vista. I know 2003 had a subset of drives that would work, but I've found Vista to be pretty compatible. Do you have the latest bios (2.19 I think) there was some usb fixes, perhaps one of them is related.

if you have an external hard drive or ever an big enough flash drive you can just copy dvd to it and boot and install from that.
