Good Day,
I would like some help/suggestions on this matters please ...
I bought a PIII733Mhz FCPGA, and a board ... a Supertek ST-693AVMA/E (VIA Apollo Pro133). I installed Windows98SE, it all went well.
I have a Diamond Stealth 3D 4000 4Mb Memory ... a bit outdated, I know but ...
... I will change soon ...
... waiting for christmas ... $$$
I also have a Network Card (Realtek something), and a Diamond Supra 56i modem.
I have 2 hard disks, 1 CD-ROM and 1 iomega Zip 100 (IDE internal). After installing windows, I installed the software which came with the board, the VIA 4-in-1, IRQ Minidrivers, AGP ... , and the audio drivers (for the built-in audio device).
The last drivers I installed where brought the problem. After installing the IDE device drivers, and making a reboot as requested, the windows simply refused to detect the CD-ROM and ZIP drives ... there I was, with access to only the Hard Drives (besides the Floppy Drive).
I also noticed that before the installation of ANY drivers provided with the board, the computer was running quite a bit quicker that without any drivers installed, especially with HD accesses.
What can I do about that?
Is it possible I could not use the drivers provided with the board?
What can be the repercutions of not installing the drivers? Windows detects the VIA controllers, the USB, but I don't know if it can take the most out of the board without the drivers provided ...
I had 2 "PCI Comunication Devices" on system properties/Hardware, with a big yellow question mark. After installing the Modem drivers, I remained with just one ... but I don't know what device it is ... the network adapter seems to be ok, windows detected it and installed the drivers itself ...
Please give me some help ...
Many Thanks!
