Hi,

I am running Win2k Pro. I just reformatted my HDD and just installed Win2k Pro. Everyone went smoothly until I tried installing Office2000. Office2000 initial setup would go okay, but then it gave me an error during installation. The error was:

Error 1311: Source file not found: F:\OFFICE1.CAB. VERIFY THAT THE FILE EXISTS AND THAT YOU CAN ACCESS IT.

I can access the file via any file manager. I have tried installing this on another very similar WIn2k Pro system. The setup worked. I have try using two three different CDRom drive on this system to make sure that this is not a hardware problem. I would always get this error.

Please post if you have any idea on how to troubleshoot a this. Is there a Win2k security setting that needs to be disabled? Thanks.

I do not think so. I just used it to install Office2000 on my second computer. There were no problems.

Great News! I have pointpin and sucessfully overcome this error. This is weird, but is insightful so hang in there.

System: Abit K7A Ultra100 => two UltraATA + two basic ATA = 8 IDE drives

Configuration: C: = UltraATA#1 (IBM does not work well with WD, so it is alone)
D: & E: = UltraATA#2
F: & G: (both CDROM drivers) = ATA#1 (this is listed as *primary* master&slave)

From Office2000 prospective, F: is actually a system (C: drive) and it is trying to find another source to copy "office1.cab" to my system. It does not see that the F: is the source.
