The installation seemed to go okay and it loaded fine. But when I double click the icon it doesn't launch. I can only access the anti-virus update and support features and only then through the start button programs list. There's no information wizard, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled it two or three times. I went through all the online Norten help/support procedures and nothing works. Norten wants $30. for phone support. So I'm planning to exhaust all other free advice solutions first. Anyone even have a bad guess?

Welcome, I have not gotten NIS 2004 yet, but have been using Norton products for years. You will either love them or hate them, or in my case both. A little more information is needed. What Operating System? Win 98, 2K,XP?
How fresh is your install? Did you have old versions of Norton products already installed? Did you have other anti-virus software or spyware software going. I recomend using Ad-Aware and Spybot both. Make sure your machine is clean. Uninstall NIS, reboot, try to re-install. Post back with more specific details and let us know what happens.
Good Luck

Thanks, yeah I forgot. I'm running Windows XP/home with hardly anything on it - no office programs, no games, no graphics software and no older Norton products. That's because I just got my system a few weeks ago. NIS was my first installation after I got hooked up to the internet. I also had the same problem when I downloaded Netscape Navigator: everything seemed to load fine and the icon appeared but wouldn't launch. So my hunch is it's not the Norton disk. (I've reinstalled it a couple of times now). I'm getting my system checked out and will let you know...

So it turned out my SATA hard drive was improperly installed and Windows XP home had crashed. I got a techie to do a complete reformatting and fresh install of the O/S. This time Norton Internet Security slipped on like a glove. The icon executed and the info wizard popped up no problem, and I got my fresh anti-virus updates. Hmmm...now I'm thinking of getting a router to beef up my firewall.

I like Norton products, but I hate their installations. I don't think I have ever had an installation work right the first time, except maybe the first time, but that was years ago when you had to load from 3.5" diskettes.

Right now I can't get Norton SystemWorks 2004 to run, thread. I also have exhausted the info at their web site, and they have no free phone support, and the pay support appears to be open only on normal working days.

Maybe we should start a thread covering all of the problems with NSW, NIS, NAV, etc. ?
