Hi

i had brought a lite-on 52x32x52x burner for my cousin to put in his old computer. When i installed it and loaded up his computer, the computer says it is a standard cd-rom drive. i went into drive properties and this is what it says.

LITE-ON LTR-52327s

Device type: Dvd/Cd-ROm drives
Manufacturer: (Standard Cd-ROM drives)
Location: Location 0 (0)

This device is working propertly.

Did i get a dud?

maybe i need to install somekind of driver

my cousin is running a
intel pentium III processor
made by IBM
801 Mhz
256mb RAM

Windows XP pro

It looks pretty old

I have installed 3 other liteon drives and all of them was simple unplugg old drives and slap in the new liteon and boot up and it was done.

TIA

My DVD-RW is listed as a dvd/cd-rom. Try actually BURNING with it. I bet it works fine.

hardware wizard didnt detect anything new and it wont let me burn anything.

Nero doesnt detect any devices.

I checked to see if DMA was enable, it was.
I checked the jumpers on the back, there were right.

any other ideas?

Confirm that the IDE controller isn't running the drive at PIO mode, set its DVD Region to your country if you haven't yet, and update Nero. Good luck :)
