I have fedora 4 installed and was simply going to install another version (5).

I do the exact thing I did with 4 using an ISO downloaded.

I leave all settings at default except for NAT, which is just like I have 4 set as.

It tells me it can't find a hard drive to install the files to....??

It's Vmware...there is a hard drive right there dummy OS....

What is up with this?

Good question... FC5 installed perfectly in my VMWare server...

Post your .vmx file for this virtual machine. The VMWare forums seem pretty good, too. Try asking your question there as well.

I just don't get it...

After the media check, it tells me:

Warning

No hard drives have been found.
You probably need to manually
choose device drivers for the
installation to succeed. Would
you like to select drivers now?

I didn't have to do this with Fedora 4. I think I have put in 2 as well a while ago with no problems.

I have now installed the VMware server to see if that would work. It is the same thing. Stupid me I deleted the Fedora 4 file...no idea why I did that. I dont have time to redownload it right now.

I just click through the VMware setup....default config of 4 GB drive...256 memory...use NAT...

When I say yes, the next thing that comes up is:

Devices
The following devices have been found on your system.
AMD PCNet32 (pcnet32)

then buttons for Done and Add Device.

Selecting Done sends me to Welcome to Fedora Core...Ok...then asks for the usual US / keyboard etc, then says there was an error:

No Drives Found

An error has occurred - no valid devices were found on which to create new file
systems. Please check your hardware for
the cause of the problem.
