Problem installing Ati Radeon drivers on windows XP

I'm trying to update my ATI drivers but when I try to, the installation program gives me an error telling me to replace the display driver to standard VGA before installing the driver, but I can't figure out how to do this in windows XP. Also, I tried to uninstall the Ati drivers but I get another error message saying, "unable to uninstall older or non-ATI drivers"

In your sig, you list a G3Ti-500, is it possible that you did not uninstall nvidia drivers before installin ATI card?

Are you stuck on the standard Windows crappy drivers or still using the ATi drivers?

i'm stuck on the windows drivers now and I can't update cause every driver i have tried gives the same error.

Try Driver Cleaner 1.3 from here ,instructions are in the readme file once you`ve downloaded it,quite simple to use.
