Hi.
i have a problem hooking up the microphone to my M/B which is a GA-P43-DS3L with the RealTek ALC888 integrated sound. i've tried many things short of a fresh windows installation (seriously?? for a microphone??).
when i plug the mic in to the rear (only one i have) pink jack, the popup shows and i choose "Microphone in" but when i try to record a sound nothing is recorded.
i tried using "Microphone Boost" (in advanced options) and i even tried hooking the mic to other jacks and mapping them from say "line in" to "mic in" in the realtek panel.
i've read lots and lots of people have had problems with microphones and this sound chip but i havent found an answer yet. does anyone know what to do??
if i cant solve this problem i will be forced to buy a webcam which has an integrated microphone and carries all data on USB cord (no seperate mic jack) but such cameras cost almost half the amount a new board will cost!
aside from this problem, the M/B works great but this so irritates me that i will really think twice before buying another GIGABYTE m/b if they use such cheap chips. i had an Abit I-P35-E M/B before which was considered at the time cheaper and more budget board than the GA ones but it worked great and only my PSU managed to kill it. (dont worry, PSU has been replaced).
