I have the 82.3 GB IBM Deskstar Model IC35L080AVVA07. The drive works fine by itself but I can't get it to boot when its in a computer with another hard drive.
I first tried adding an additional HD to the system to drag some 50 gigs of data off it onto another drive but in the BIOS is won't detect the 2nd HD. Next I brought it to work and hooked it up as the slave on secondary IDE channel and same thing. So I tried it as master (on the secondary IDE)... no dice. The same with cable select. I even tried those 15 head settings.
The only way I can get it to load is with the 32GB Clip jumper settings BUT it shows the drive as smaller and unformatted... so that is no help.
Has anybody every had such a problem? --I just need to get a bunch of data off there and I don't want to burn 60 CDs to get it off.
