Problem getting computer to boot

I just finished building a new system which includes the following:
Gigabyte Motherboard Model GA-K8N-SLI
AMD Athlon64 3200+
MSI 6600GT Graphics Card
500W Power supply
200GB HD from another system
CD Drive from another system
Windows XP SP2

The HD, and the CD Drive were moved over from another computer system. The HD and CD are recognized properly.

The system will simply not boot. When I use the HD boot, the system does the IRQ checkout and says everyting is OK and then lists the message "Verifying DMI Pool Data" and just hangs up there. If I change the boot sequence in the Bios and boot to the CD that came with the motherboard the system recognizes the CD (echos back the CD name) and then the screen goes blank, and the system just hangs there.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated greatly.

what brand PSU? What brand RAM and is it new?

Pretty hard to say at this point. Did you try removing all unnecessary hardware?

Is the hard drive jumpered correctly?

Try running with just the mobo/RAM/CPU/Video and boot from CD with HD not hooked up?
