Recently got Adelphia cable and it works with standard modem to pc setup, but when I put a router into the mix can't get it to work. I've tried both the Netgear and Linksys router (non wireless versions - both new).

1. I've followed step by step instructions (both Netgear & Linksys)
2. using dynamic IP
3. can get into the router setup page
4. swapped out different patch cables (all of them new)
5. router setup page can't see the network (connection test within setup doesnt complete).
6. using adelphia provide US Robotic cable modem
Is there an undocumented setting I'm missing ?

I noticed, in a foot note in the Netgear instructions mention of some cable modem cables requiring non-standard (cross over cable) patch cable ?

Also, the reset sequence seems specific - unplug router & modem then powerup modem, then router, then restart PC.

Netgear setup requres entering Adelphia login and password - Linksys does not ? Whats up with this difference (either you need it or not) ?

any advice apprciated.

do you need to spoof your mac address on the router?

you may need to insert the mac address of your lan card into the router so the cable modem thinks it is connected to the pc

look in your help for mac spoofing
