Problem: Games Crashing To Desktop

GasX

Lifer
I just built this machine and have updated all drivers - video, sound, mobo, bios.

Both the Doom3 Demo and Battlefield 1942 have both crashed to desktop after about 10 minutes of play. What is the likely cause?

Sandra stopped almost immediately showing an alert next to the core voltage: 1.57 volts

any recommendations on a new setting?

It's probably bad ram.

Go here and download the diagnostic cdrom image. Burn it to a cdrom and boot off of it. Let it run for a couple hours. If you get any errors you have a 95% chance of bad ram.

Then figure out which ram module is bad and remove it. That should solve your crashing issues.

Sandra's alert comes because the stock voltage for this CPU is 1.45. When I had it set to "Auto" Sandra detected 1.57. I cranked it up to 1.625 and Sandra detects that, but it still doesn't run and shows an alert next to the voltage...

I just woke up and PC had succesfully completed 43 passes of SiSoft Sandra...

Max CPU temp was 40 degrees

When your system is at stock speeds, does it crash to the desktop? If so you'll need more voltage on your overclock like mentioned above
