Problem formatting my partition

I have 3 partitions on my 250 GB drive. A 10 gig partition a 120 gig partition and 105 gig partition. However the 10 gig (OS) and the 120 gig have been succesful. but the 105 gig (The reamined of the the HDD) has been unsuccesful as it always freezes my computer when it gets to 72%. Any idea why this is happening? (im using diskmgmt.msc to do the formats).

All help is appreciated.

Run Scandisk on the partition, it will tell you if there's a problem with the disk surface.

How old, what brand and model and interface is the drive?

i deleted the partition because i cannot complete it succesfully. So now i have 105 gigs of unallocated space. I want to format this but it keeps frrezing at 72% and i have to shut the computer down (i waited 4 hours yesterday to see if it would unlock it self but no luck). Its a brand new HDD (seagate 250gig). This is a brand new build using all new parts and this is the only problem I am having at the moment.
