I just bought a PC, It has XP Installed on it. The thing is it boots & the shows the devices & than instead of going to the XP boot screen it just goes to black. I thried to boot of windows 98 cd & I tell it to boot of cd-rom & than it goes to black. I tried the Windows XP CD & it does the press F6 to boot drivers & after that nothing... Its a ASUS Mobo & a AMD 2600+ XP CPU. I know this is in the wrong place but mods if you will allow it for a little while I would like to get the problem fixed soon thanks.

Sounds like a straight-ballin' problem.

boot in safe mode, I think you hold down f8 or f11 after the start up screen and change your resolution settings

Wont go past loading the file drvmain.sdb

In what paritition is Windows installed? Seems to me that it cant find the primary hard drive.

I messed around with the CD-ROM wires & it booted 😕
