Ok so I downloaded Intel's latest BIOS update for my m/b thinking it would be a good idea to flash before installing Windows XP. I download the latest one using a windows based install program. I run it, it shuts down my computer normally, then the screen stays black. Huh?
I check the diagnostic lights at the back and my system is hanging on USB Initialization, which is odd since I only have one USB device, a MS Intellimouse Explorer. I disconnect it, same thing.

Now, the m/b has a BIOS recovery mode, and I've tried make a startup disk and putting BIOS files on it, but the system freezes about 5 seconds into booting at the same place. So, I can't seem to recover my old BIOS, and the new one won't flash. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

System includes:
p3-866
512 pc-133 ram
Hercules GeForce 2 MX
SB Live Audigy Platinum

Turns out that the particular version of BIOS I was trying to flash just didn't like my system for some reason. I had to download an older version from a 3rd party site which worked fine.
