I am using
AMD XP Barton 2500+
2 X Kingston 512 PC2700 /w Hynix HY50U56822BFJ chips
Epox 8RDA+

I experience error when:
1. Running Prime95
2. Running 3D stuff
3. Sometime Windows blue screen

The matter is when I run the RAM @ 150MHz and CPU @ 200FSB, it works fine. However when i run them at 166/166, it becomes unstable. I am pretty sure that the problem is the RAM. Is there anyone experiencing this problem?

Also, since i bought them from newegg, i need to buy from there again. Any good suggestion for me?
Thanks

I am sorry to have to tell you this but it is your RAM Welllam. I had 2 x 512MB of Kingston ValueRam on my Epox 8RDA+ and it caused the SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. It is the same issue with Crucial 512MB PC2700 DIMMs. You will need to get different RAM to fix your problem.

I might suggest the same RAM I am now using. Kingston HyperX PC2700. You can get a stick of it at NewEgg for like $77 shipped. Two sticks run perfectly in Dual Channel Mode at 5-2-2-2.0 in my system at 100% with my CPU also running in DDR333 mode. It's very stable and fast.

Other memory choices are Mushkin, Corsair, Samsung, and TwinMOS.

You should be running the FSB and the memory SYNCHRONOUSLY. Set the "memory speed" to "100%". Then try.

Your memory might not be the best however, your setting are incorrect to begin with. Good luck.

He said his lockups occur when he runs the system synchronously. MANY MANY of us Epox 8RDA+ owners had the same exact problem with Kingston ValueRam. That is the problem. It sucks but it's true. :(

MichaelD was asking about what power supply you are running your system on. Which ARE you using by the way?

A better memory combo with your board is Twinmos/Winbond. Right now, PC3200 512Mb is going for $89.95 at MemoryX. Very good ram at a very good price!

I have 2 sticks of Twinmos Winbond 512MB PC3200 at conservative timings (7 3 3 2.5) on an 8RDA+ and can't get over 166FSB in dual channel mode without BSODs. Is dual channel a problem for even the best ram at high FSB? This is my third RAM upgrade and I thought Twinmos was the best for 8rda+ stability.

I have a 400W power supply but it is not a name brand. Is the power supply a common cause of this problem? Anyone know where to get a good deal on a good PS?
