Hello,
Recently, I have bought the Epox 8RDA nForce2 motherboard together with a generic Winbond (Rambo) DDR333 512MB DDR module. However, the system is not stable at DDR266 or DDR333, it will only run flawlessly at DDR200, all settings 'BY SPD', with no overclocking at all. I also tried swapping the memory to different slots but it's still the same. VDIMM is at 2.6V (BIOS default).
I notice one special thing about the memory, it is that they are now using the Winbond chip W942508CH-6 rather than W942508BH-6, is there a compatibility problem with this newer Winbond chip? Anyone using Winbond memory (W942508CH-6) with 8RDA? Do they work properly?

I have searched on the net about this new W942508CH-6 but only found the official datasheets, can't find anyone using this in the forums......

Attached please find a scan (Clipboard01.gif) of the new Winbond CH-6 chip I am referring to.
Thanks in advance.

Hmmm... Can't say what the exact problem is, but I know others have told me to pick your settings, rather than let the Bios do them.

I just set this system up last night (8RDA+ & Twinmos/Winbond PC3200)... and I got to 166MHz FSB @ CL2.5, no problem.

But, I went in and set ram timings to expert and entered all the frequencies and stuff. Maybe give that a shot. I don't mean to rank on your ram b/c its Winbond. But, you never know... the "generic" issue could be lending some problems. I still think it should hit 133 no problem though.

Anyone using this new type of RAM chips W942508CH-6 on nForce2 boards, or more specifically on Epox 8RDA(+)? I will RMA this generic module anyway but before doing so, I just want to know if there're any compatibility problem between this newer CH-6 chip and nForce2/8RDA, or it's just a bad module.

Thanks in advance.

PS Too bad, just gotten this combo yesterday but still can't overclock the 1700+ DLT3c 0308 yet, argh, can't wait to do some serious overclocking! :D
