PROBLEM EPOX 8K3A+ with Aureal Sound card

Just finish Install system for my friend.
He has Aureal Sound card, but when I install to the system, it frezzeeee.

He has EPOX 8K3A+ with AthlonXP 2100.
His OS = Win98

pecel: Make sure to install it in PCI slot 3 and disable the SB Pro DOS emulation. Also get the last drivers for it, if it's Vortex 2 then use the 2048 driver version.

I can vouch that the Aureal is NOT a POS. Vortex2 - Great card - a lot better sounding than most of the stuff that pass themselves off as 'sound cards'. I just wish I could get drivers for 2K, then I would upgrade to it.

When you put that system together, have the bare minimum in that puppy, and then add 1 piece at a time. Don't throw everything in at once. That way you can see if there are any problems as each part is added. Also, it is imperative that you have a real good PS for that board - it needs real good clean supply to run correctly.

Get the last official set of Aureal drivers from www.vortexofsound.com and use those for the card.

I had the same problem with my CLabs card on that mobo. Just disable the onboard sound in your BIOS and everything will be okay
