Hi,

I just installed windows on my new computer
E6600 with sphycte Ninja cooler, Evga Nforce680i motherboard

I'm getting a reading of 60 celcius Idle in the bios (and in the nvidia monitor under windows)

Now that can't be normal... where should I start?

The store mounted the HSF on the mobo. The goo was artic silver. I'll go tomorrow an check with them. Maybe this HS doesn't fit

High idle temps usually indicate heatsink block is getting better contact with the edge of the heat spreader on the cpu than the center where it should.

Remove and check the pattern. Apply a rice grain sized blob of AS in the middle of the CPU heat spreader and re-attach the heat sink.

Make sure there is no interference between caps, heatsinks, etc on the motherboard that's preventing the heatsink from sitting squarely and securely in place.
